Terms & Conditions

Last updated: May 2026

These terms apply to every order placed with Blossom Bakery (Helen Desmond), Great Baddow, Chelmsford, Essex. Confirming an order means you accept them. If anything's unclear, email blossombakedgoods@gmail.com before paying.

Placing an order

All orders start with an enquiry. I'll confirm what you'd like, the delivery or collection date, any dietary requirements and the price. An order is only confirmed once I've replied to confirm I can take it and you've paid the agreed deposit (see Payment below).

Minimum notice is 48 hours for cupcakes, biscuits and tray bakes; 2–3 weeks for celebration cakes; 4–9 months for peak-season wedding cakes. I'll always try to fit in shorter notice if I can, but I can't promise it.

Payment

Wedding cakes. A non-refundable deposit of 25% secures your date. The remaining balance is due 4 weeks before the wedding.

Other orders. Payment is in full at the point of confirmation.

I accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, bank transfer and cash.

Cancellations & changes

Wedding cakes. Deposit is non-refundable. If you need to move the date, I'll do my best to accommodate a new date subject to availability. Cancellations less than 4 weeks before the wedding may forfeit the full balance.

Other orders. Cancellations more than 7 days before the collection / delivery date are refundable in full. Within 7 days, ingredients have usually been bought and prep started, so refunds may be partial or not possible. Get in touch early — I'd much rather work something out than say no.

Design changes. Reasonable changes are usually fine up to 2 weeks before a celebration cake (4 weeks for a wedding cake). Significant changes after that may not be possible or may carry a price adjustment.

Allergens & dietary

All bakes are made in a domestic kitchen that handles wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy and nuts. I take allergens seriously and offer gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options on most cakes — but I cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment. If you have a severe allergy, please tell me at enquiry stage so I can advise honestly whether I can safely take the order.

Allergen information for any confirmed order is available on request before delivery.

Delivery & collection

Wedding cakes are delivered across Essex and surrounding counties — delivery fee is quoted by venue distance. Local CM2 delivery is offered for orders of two people or more (cupcakes, traybakes, afternoon teas).

Once a cake leaves my hands (collected by you, your courier, or set up at a venue), I'm not responsible for damage caused by transport, handling or display conditions. For weddings I'd strongly recommend I deliver and set up — it's what insurance covers.

Quality & complaints

Every order is hand-made, hand-decorated and made to be eaten the day of delivery (or within 48 hours for cupcakes, longer for biscuits). If something isn't right, contact me within 24 hours of receipt with a photo and I'll make it right where possible — whether that's a remake, refund or partial refund depending on the circumstances. Complaints made after the cake has been eaten or many days later are not usually actionable.

Photography & social media

I usually photograph cakes before they leave the kitchen and may share those photos on Instagram, Facebook or this website to show my work. I never share customer names, dates or events without permission. If you'd rather your cake wasn't shared, just say so at enquiry stage — happy to keep it private.

Liability

Blossom Bakery's liability for any order is limited to the amount paid for that order. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
